Seth Moniz Wins O’Neill Breakthrough Performer

And deservedly so.

The local kid charged all season long, submitting more WOTW entries than anyone in his age group. Plus, he help save Kalani Champan’s life.

O’Neill Wave of the Winter awards $25,000 to the surfer who rides the best wave on the North Shore from November through February. But that ain’t all. O’Neill also gives $5000 to the surfer, 19 years old or younger, who is deemed the “Breakthrough Performer.” It’s not a one-wave event. The five grand goes to the grom who puts in high-quality, sustained performances over the entire waiting period. If this ride by Seth Moniz isn’t “high-quality,” we don’t know what is.
