The Wave Of The Winter Movie Is Officially Live
For four months every winter, the entire surf world is focused on the North Shore of Oahu. During the course of the season, some of the craziest, most intense rides of the year go down at Pipeline, Backdoor and Off-the-Wall.This film tells the story of the ’16-’17 winter. Focusing on the four main Pipe swells – early November, Christmas Day, January’s Da Hui Backdoor Shootout and February – it chronicles the season’s most extraordinary waves. And the progression is palpable.
As judge Ross Williams explains: “There’s always a few perfect-looking waves ridden every year, but this year, the actual depth inside the barrel by many was exceptional. These guys manage to take off just a little deeper, a little later and still make it out of the barrel. Pretty crazy — the bar gets set a tad higher every year.”
Starring chargers like Koa Rothman, Jamie O’Brien, Mason Ho, Seth Moniz, Nathan Florence and more, rushing the heaviest waves on the planet, directed by Etienne Aurelius and narrated by Jimmy “Ulu Boi” Napeahi, Wave of the Winter is ready for viewing now.
