The 5th Annual O’Neill Generation Next fashion show and design competition, which was presented by Teen Vogue on November 3rd 2012 in San Francisco, CA was a huge success! Congratulations to Sidney Budlie who won the event!

The Design competition, which marked the end of a six-month design program had five students from local Northern California high schools present their original dress designs on the runway, featuring an O’Neill Swim fashion show with international supermodel and O’Neill brand ambassador, Elyse Taylor. Each of our five finalist, Sidney Bundlie (Ramon Valley High School), Rachel Frost (Encinal High School), Heidi Peinthor (Bear River High School), Madelynn Prendergast (Head-Royce School), Taylor Schultz (Presentation High School) worked with an O’Neill design mentor to design and produce a dress based on the fashion of a decade in O’Neill’s history to compete for a design scholarship, O’Neill internship and more!

About the Winner: Sidney Budlie, a sophomore at San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, California, worked with O’Neill design mentor, Anya Violet, on a dress inspired by the 1980s. “I live for fashion—no fashion is like having no oxygen. Fashion helps me express myself and be courageous and outgoing. I would like to thank my mentor Anya—you rock! Cedar, Kari, and Lindsay for teaching me all the fashion ins and outs. And of course, my beautiful family and friends. Thank you so much Aunt Michelle; I couldn’t have done anything without you and Kaitlin. You were by my side the whole time!”

A special thanks to Teen Vogue for supporting the event, Paul Mitchell for providing all the hair and makeup for the models and our O’Neill Girls design mentors Rachael, Jade, Anya, Kendal, and Cararayne.
