To travel the world is to live. You’re young, eager, and craving adventure. What now? O’Neill Girls and Contiki Vacations are here to help you plan your next adventure.
Before choosing a travel destination be sure to know:
If you want to travel solo or with a group
The reason for travel is personal for everyone. Some travel for self development, soul searching, or to experience the world with their friends or family. There’s no right way to do it.
Know your idea of “fun”
Everyone is unique. Not everyone’s idea of fun is the same. Know how YOU like to have fun. Is it laying out on the beach? Discovering the different species of animals? Hiking? Being immersed in a different culture? Know what you want to do and plan accordingly.
Traveling with friends? Make sure everyone in your group has similar interests of how your time abroad will be spent. It’s OK to venture out a bit of your comfort zone. You never know, it may be the best experience on your trip!
Traveling solo, but want to travel with a group? Many travel companies, like Contiki, offer group tours that welcome solo travelers to join. It’s a great way to meet new people from all over the world with your similar interests. Make sure to research different companies. Many cater to different age groups.
Know your your budget
Probably one of the most important items on your travel check-list. Know how much you can spend on your entire trip. This means budgeting your flights, transportation, tours, food, souvenirs, and miscellaneous (we all know miscellaneous expenses like to show up in the middle of your trip..be prepared!).
Know the conversion rate. Is the value of your home currency more or less than where you’re visiting? Research if converting money is cheaper in your home country or while you’re abroad.
If you’re using your bank card, make sure to advise your bank. Some banks recognize international use as fraud and can freeze your bank card.
Are you at one with nature? Is your dream to camp out in a tent in the jungle? Or you more of a five star resort type of lady? You know yourself the best. Know what what type of accommodations will make you happy. Even if it’s couch surfing!
Do your homework
Not knowing anything about the country/countries you will be visiting is probably not the smartest idea. Know where you’re going. Research things to see, places to go,things to eat, and even where not go, not eat, and things to avoid (i.e. water, street vendors, etc.).
Also, know if you need any additional documentation or shots. Some countries require these if you stay for a few weeks or months.
Before you go, make sure log on to the US Embassy’s website and find out about the places you will visit. See if there are any warnings or alerts regarding the country.
Alerts about diseases or viruses can also be found here. Visiting the jungle? Don’t forget your bug spray!
So there you have it! A few tips to know before you go. Are you ready to to embark on your #oneillAdventure? Log on to www.Contiki.com to get your adventure started!
Happy adventuring and safe travels!
