Decorating your space is the best way to get in the spirit of the holidays. Halloween is fun for those who love to carve pumpkins, adventure into haunted houses and dress up as muses from decades past or iconic characters. There are many alternatives to carving pumpkins that are great for helping you keep your pumpkin alive longer. Below are three DIY pumpkin decor ways – we love – to switch up your average pumpkin carving.
All you need are the below tools:
- puff paint
- spray adhesive
Lightly spray the surface area of your pumpkin with adhesive (please spray outside). Then, gently pour your glitter onto the pumpkin before it dries. Try not to spray over the glitter too many times with adhesive. Make sure you roll your pumpkin into the leftover glitter on your table. Keep adding glitter until desired effect.
To apply the feathers, all you need is glue – all purpose is recommended. Simply place the glue where you want your feathers and gently press down. Feel free to apply around the entire pumpkin or just the top. Anything goes.
We chose to use puff paint but you can use actual henna, sharpies, or even wood burning pens – it will all have a similar affect. There’s no science or correct way to doodle. We recommend pinning some mandala inspiration before you start and taking elements from all your photos. Free handing is fun because then each will be unique but taking a pencil and stenciling them first won’t hurt.
If you and your friends decide to decorate pumpkins, be sure to show us by tagging @oneillwomens in your posts! We love to see how creative our girls can get.
