Down Under with Malia Manuel

Electric Pulp

Kicked off the year with a World Junior Championship Event down under in Australia, North Narrabeen to be exact. Being my second time there, it was nice to know where to stay, what to eat, and what boards to bring! For the most part it was pleasant weather in New South Wales despite the horrific torrential rain up in Queensland. We had pretty decent waves for the contest; I ended up losing in the Quarterfinals, which was a little disappointing. After the contest Aussie OʻNeill team manager Jarrad Howse took my mom and I sightseeing around his town in Manly. Itʻs such a cool town- they even have a statue dedicated to the late Duke Kahanamoku, who introduced surfing to Australia in 1915 at Freshwater Beach.
