Festival Hair How-To: Boho Tiered Pony

Electric Pulp

Hi guys! It’s Kara from The Freebird. I’m super excited to be a guest blogger for O’Neill today and share some fun stuff with you all!

So lets talk hair.

This fun twist on a ponytail is perfect for festival season which is quickly approaching. So imagine this, you are at <insert your fav festival here>. You are looking like a babe in your cutest O’Neill festival pieces. But it’s hot and the sun is beaming so you wonder, “What can I do with my hair to keep cool but still look great!?” Enter the Tiered Pony!

This style will keep your hair up and out of the way but with a little more “boho” flair than just a plain old ponytail…. think Blake Lively! Cute right!? Add some flowers if your feeling really free spirited!

Follow these steps to create this bohemian look.

Here’s what you need:

– Teasing Brush

– Clear elastics

– Bobby pins

Give your hair a bit of height at the top and secure with 2 bobby pins.

Tie hair at the crown with an elastic to create your first pony. Section off strands at the temple for your second one.

Take your first pony and tease the underside to create “puff” while keeping the top side smooth.

To create the bubble, connect the 2 ponies and secure with an elastic.

Repeat steps 2-4 down to the nape of your neck. Secure elastics  down the remainder of pony a few inches apart from each other.

Gently pull the sides of each bubble to fluff them up. Make sure you start from the top and work your way down.

To help achieve the puff look, you can also lightly tease the remaining ponytail from the nape down (like you did in step 3) before securing the rest of the bubbles all the way down.

And you’re done! Add some flowers throughout if you want and you are set!

What do you guys think? Will you be trying this fun twist on the ponytail?

Don’t forget to show us how you wear it!

XO,

Kara
