John John Pushes the Envelope at the US Open

jazzy

John John had a good run at the Open this year and used every trick in his aerial arsenal to advance in the overhead surf at Huntington Beach. Unfortunately the surf gods weren’t smiling down on him this time as didn’t land several of his airs when he needed them. Up against a in-form “Brother” Andino in the Open Mens competition, John John needed big scores and he went big. He even attempted a Rodeo but fell short on the landing.

2Johns had another shot left as he advanced into the final of the Pro Junior. Yet again he was up against Andino, Connor Coffin and Filipe Toledo who went on to win the Pro Junior. John John put up some amazing airs and got huge reactions from the crowd, even shooting the pier with a cutback inside the pylons but it wasn’t enough for the judges.
