Manicure Monday

Electric Pulp

Todays Manicure Monday kicks off a special series we’re doing with FOAM Magazine! For the next couple of weeks we’re going to be featuring a different O’Neill Girl from our team and a nail trend she’s into!

What we love about this Mermaid Tail manicure are the variations of bright summer colors and that it features a unique color blending technique that can be used in many other manicures. Learn how to do this Mermaid Tail manicure yourself by following the steps below and be sure to check out more info on Kendal, our Graphic Designer in FOAM Magazines exclusive blog on her.

-Orly Bonder Basecoat (optional)
-Deep Periwinkle Blue nail polish
-Sea Foam Teal nail polish
-Jade Beetle Blue nail polish
-Iridescent Sapphire Blue nail polish
-Yellow Glitter nail polish
-Purple Glitter nail polish
-Clear Glitter nail polish
-Clear coat nail polish

Step 1: Step up all your supplies and unscrew each of the nail polish tops so that you can easily access them. Start off by applying the Orly Bonder as your basecoat to all your nails (this will prevent nail color from chipping or wearing off). Let dry for a couple minutes.

Step 2: Paint all of your nails with the Deep Periwinkle Blue nail polish. Let dry. We waited about 10 minutes.

Step 3: On your index and middle finger you will be dividing your nail into three half moon shaped sections. Start at your cuticle and paint your first half moon shape with the Sea Foam Teal nail polish. The middle half moon will be painted with the Jade Beetle Blue nail polish, and the last half moon will be your Iridescent Sapphire Blue nail polish. Let half way dry. We waited about 4 minutes.

Step 4 & 5: At this step we will be blending the colors together using our glitter colors. Start by applying the Yellow Glitter nail polish at the base of your nail (cuticle area) and work out pulling it to the tip of the nail. Next apply the Purple Glitter nail polish to the middle of your nail and pull out to the tip of your nail. Allow your nail polish to half dry again. We waited about 4 minutes.

Step 6: Apply Clear Glitter over the entire nail to smooth out any unevenness that may have occurred.
