Here in the Pacific North West, we get to really experience all four seasons. The winter months are awesome for bundling up and heading to the mountains. I jumped at the chance to spend a cozy weekend in Whistler with my friend, Jennifer Northrup.

We were fortunate enough to stay at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, which is the ultimate luxe experience. If you’re looking to unwind and escape this is the place, they even have a eucalyptus steam room (which we put to good use)! Located in Upper Village, it’s like stepping into a mountain fairytale.

There is so much to explore in Whistler Village! Beautiful surroundings, great food, awesome shops and a unique mix of eclectic individuals – there is something for everyone!

One of our favorite and most frequented spots on the trip was the Mallard Lounge, located in the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. Their large outdoor fire tables and tasty menu options made it our main stop.

Although Whistler is famous for it’s world class skiing and snowboarding, we opted for a less obvious way to discover the mountain, 4×4 Jeep tours! We bombed up Blackcomb Mountain and made it to Crystal Hut before any of the lifts were even running. It was STUNNING!

Peak to peak is definitely one of the biggest attractions Whistler has to offer. The gondola holds the world record for the longest free span between ropeway towers.

If you’re game for a 4×4 glacier safari, check out Canadian Wilderness Adventures. Be sure to ask for ‘Nick’ as your guide, he’s a total champ!

Looking to explore some sights outside of the village? Try Joffre Lakes, just past Pemberton. The best part about this location is that it’s beautiful no matter what the weather is doing. Even though we couldn’t catch a view of the spectacular Matier Glacier, the fog brought a beauty all its own and the Whiskey Jacks were friendlier than ever!

Breakfast in the village is one of my favorite things to do in Whistler. So many of the restaurants have heated outdoor patios, which makes for a cozy atmosphere and the people watching is always entertaining!

The mountainous backdrop on the ride home is nothing short of EPIC! Cruising the windy road (known as the Sea to Sky Highway) that cuts through rugged mountainside is breathtaking. I’ve even spotted pods of Orca Whales while driving back to Vancouver. If you haven’t been to Whistler yet, make 2015 the year to change that!

Easy Cruisin’ + Tons of Aloha,

Erica
