Style Muse Diaries: Lake Tahoe

Imagine your back yard being a crystal blue mountain lake, about 1,645 feet deep at its lowest point. Imagine mountains cascading all around and their peaks reaching up to 11,000 feet. A place where summers bring you to the beach every day to cliff jump, hike and backpack all around some of the most heavily visited wilderness in the country. The crystal clear waters of the lake with a backdrop of mountains and tall pine trees seem to draw you in with a sense of adventure.

As fall arrives, a brisk chill creeps into the mountain air. Fall in Lake Tahoe means watching sunsets where the sky seems to be on fire, so you grab your friends and go to the highest lookout point reachable to take it all in. Fall means laughter around a fire on your last backpacking trip before the snow arrives. Fall means layers, sweaters and cozy beanies to keep you warm. When the first powdery snow of the fall dusts the lake, life begins at Tahoe’s 22,000 acres of ski resorts.

Living an active life in the mountains brings me on a new adventure every day to find a new beach spot, hike to a waterfall or paddle around the lake. In the trees, life moves slowly, the vibe is friendly and if you enjoy the outdoors there’s no shortage of ways to be active. I believe the heart desires to be in nature, to break a sweat and challenge your abilities. With amazing trails all around, slopes just as plentiful and beaches as clear as the tropics, Lake Tahoe is a gem nestled between California and Nevada. I often find myself wondering how I live in a place that possesses so much sheer magic. With adventure around every corner, I can think of no other place better to Roam Free.

Wherever you may roam or call home, never stop exploring.
