We can’t seem to get enough of her beautiful posts, her quirky blogs, and how this blogger/graphic designer/art director/actress/model (wooo…that’s a lot in one breath) finds time to stay fit!
We sat down with Rebekah Steen from Goldfish Kiss to give us a run down on what works for her to stay fit, healthy, and feeling great.
O’Neill Girls: What are three words that describe your fitness regimen?
Goldfish Kiss: Varied. Intense. Outdoors (when possible).
O’Neill Girls: What is your favorite workout?
Goldfish Kiss: Ok, so there are a lot of things I love to do that are active, but in terms of an actual workout, I am on old fashioned “meathead” at heart. I love feeling strong and having a butt kicking lift at the gym.
O’Neill Girls: Do you have a daily workout routine?
Goldfish Kiss: I try to do something active/break-a-sweat each day. My weekly schedule is lifting 3x a week for about 45-50 minutes and then doing sprints, hikes, long walks, paddle boarding, surfing, or yoga on the other days.
O’Neill Girls: What is your go-to “healthy” snack/recipe/food?
Goldfish Kiss: Tons of water! I know it’s boring, but it’s my go-to. Food wise, I love “healthy toasts,” so a hearty multi grain piece of toast with homemade coconut oil peanut butter, a few types of fruits, (right now I’m doing strawberries, blackberries and blueberries) and honey drizzled on top. It’s a mess. It’s delish.
I am also a fan of random green (a.k.a. I just add spinach or Kale) smoothie concoctions and chia seeds. I love chia seeds.
O’Neill Girls: What was your biggest fitness accomplishment?
Goldfish Kiss: Oh gosh, I wish I could say hiking Mt. Kilimanjaro or something like that, but I was a Division I college athlete (Field Hockey) which was pretty cool.
I actually just competed in my first ever Outrigger canoe race, which was a 26 mile change out. Being able to start and compete in a new sport felt like an accomplishment.
…OK one more. When I was in high school, I remember going to watch the surfers out at Honolua bay on Maui and I told myself I want to be able to surf there one day. I was there a few years ago on my birthday, paddled out and caught some fun waves in a swell. That felt great.
O’Neill Girls: Any future fitness goals?
Goldfish Kiss: Hike Mt. Kilimanjaro? No, really, that would be sweet. I’d love to do a monumental hike like that on a different continent.
O’Neill Girls: What are your workout wardrobe must-haves (i.e. quick dry, great fitting sports bra, etc)?
Goldfish Kiss: A comfy grey baggy t- shirt, some thick, quick dry leggings (cropped or long), a great fitting, bright and comfortable sports bra, and a hair tie…because I always forget one!
O’Neill Girls: So, we’ve heard you love the O’Neill Women’s active wear collection, O’Neill 365. What is your favorite piece from the collection?
Goldfish Kiss: I love the O’Neill 365 Rapid Bikini Bra. It’s like a miracle bra/no budge bikini top/super supportive sports bra all in one! The fit on this top is unreal.
O’Neill Girls: Do you have a health tip you would like to share with our O’Neill Women’s Community?
Goldfish Kiss: They say to choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life. Well, you can also find something active you love to do and you will never have to workout that much either.
