KODIAK O'NEILL'S CLASS ASSIGNMENT: THE FIRST SURF SHOP

Kodiak O’Neill is a third-generation Santa Cruz, California native. This year, he was required to build a national landmark for a class assignment. When Kodiak returned home from school, he crafted a plan for his project: Grandpa Jack O’Neill’s beloved first surf shop. This one of a kind landmark at Cowell Beach is historic and for generations, people have come and learned how to surf. The O’Neill brand started in 1952 as a passion for surfing. The reason was simple when Jack was asked. "I just wanted to surf longer", and that he did. At that moment, his creation changed every surfer's experience for generations to come. Kodiak is one of the many grandchildren who influences the O’Neill brand and is sure to keep Grandpa Jack’s legacy alive as the #FirstNameInTheWater.
