When you’re in a place of darkness, you’re in a powerful place of change. ‘Transmutation’ is a celebration of growth. The 19/20 Australian bushfire season as of March 9th, 2020 burnt an estimated 18.6 million hectares and destroyed over 2,779 homes. Lachie Rombouts lives on the south coast of NSW, which was one of the greatest affected areas. Lachie chose to leave money for happiness many moons ago. Surfing through the bushfire season not only helped him avoid familiar darkness, but it brought clarity towards a common goal. He is doing what he can to help by planting new vegetation for local elders and homes in these decimated areas. “Transmutation. Grapes must be crushed to make wine. Diamonds from under pressure. Olives are pressed to release oil. Seeds grow in darkness. Whenever you feel crushed, under pressure, pressed, or in darkness, you’re in a powerful place of transformation/transmutation." - Lalah Deliah Film and Edit: Thibault Upton Additional Footage: Max Zappas, Andrew Kaineder, Nick Colclough, Shane Fletcher.
