My Go-To Surf Booties

"This must be my fifth pair of O’Neill booties, and I keep using them because they truly make a difference. The Superfreak Tropical ST 2mm gives me a lot of confidence on the drop and great stability on the board, regardless of the wax I’m using. They also offer real freedom out of the water — I can walk comfortably from the car to the surf spot without worrying about my feet. On beaches with a rocky bottom, there’s simply nothing better. Wearing these lets me focus only on surfing, instead of stressing about foot placement or sharp rocks. Comfortable, reliable, and functional. Highly recommended."

good booties

"I use these while kayaking and open water rowing in the Puget Sound. The snug yet flexible fit ensures they stay on ready to protect my feet when launching or landing. The trade-off of soggy feet after really long 5-10 hours rows is minor when compared to the protection offered when beaching on rocky, barnacIed shores. I bought these as my second pair to be a backup. No complaints."

Better than water shoes

"I have never been comfortable with water shoes. The slip-on ones always feel soggy and the tennis shoe style ones always trap large chunks of sand. I began using wet suit booties for kayaking, but they are thicker for cold. So, for summer this year, I tried the thinner, lower cut, "Tropical" version and they held up perfectly to oyster shells and, as long as I kept the cuffs cinched, didn't let in hardly any sand. The split toe and thinner sole are helpful for maintaining control and board feel on a SUP without having to remove the booties. I really have no need for flip-flops anymore. I should add that I am a 14 wide and the width did not feel restrictive in any way."

Saved my feet in Fiji

"Took to Fiji for the first time surfing a reef break. They totally saved my feet"

not yet used for surfing.

"not yet used for surfing. used for rowing in cold puget sound waters. keep feet warm and soles are just thick enough to walk over rocks when launching or returning to shore while being flexible enough to wear rowing."

Odd but comfortable

"I went on a few excursions in cancun and needed a good pair or water shoes that were good for walking around in all day as well. I got a size 7 and they fit just exact. When I say exact I mean it from heel to toe. The first day was better than I expected but I was also in water 80% of the time. 3 days later for my second excursion they were fine up till half day. My ankles were swollen from the trip and the snug fit of these shoes were tight also my toes were tight as well. I still recommend these shoes but they do run exact to a tad small. I feel even if I went up in size would have been big and my feet would have moved around causing blisters. Odd toe shape and they look really weird but they are really comfortable!"

Q&A

What size for a Woman’s size 7?
Hi There With a women's size 7 in shoes, normally you would be a size 6 in women's booties. But since these run small you'll want to size up to a women's 7 in booties. We hope this helps. Thank You O'Neill
What size should I get for a woman, 6.5 size ? Thanks
Hi There For a women's 6.5 you would be a 6 in booties. Thanks O'Neill
my husband is size 9.5 sneakers. Would you recommend size 9 or 10? thank you
I'd recommend sizing up to size 10. They are designed to fit snug, so if you size down it'll likely be too tight. We always offer free returns/exchanges as well.
