WATCH: O'NEILL COLDWATER CLASSIC RECAP
O’Neill is happy to announce that the O'Neill Cold Water Classic returns to Steamer Lane after a seven year hiatus. The event will be held from Tuesday, November 15th to Saturday, November 19th, 8am-5pm waves permitting.
Since 1987, the O’Neill Cold Water Classic has been Northern California’s premier professional surfing event held at Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz. “The Lane” is arguably the best spectator venue for a surf contest to be found anywhere in the world. No surf spot resembles an ancient roman stadium like steamer lane, with steep, vertical cliffs overlooking the fabled right point break. As a unique destination, event spectators flock to Northern California’s iconic point break to hug the cliff railing and witness the world’s top surfers compete.
The return of the 2022 O’Neill Cold Water Classic also marks seventy years since O’Neill became known as the first name in the water, bringing decades upon decades of innovation and performance, with no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
The contest is a men’s and women’s qs 1000 world surfing league sanctioned event:
This year’s CWC will bring many competitors and visitors from all over the world to Santa Cruz, including our own O’Neill team riders Kolohe Andino, Ian Crane, Torrey Meister, Autumn Hayes, Caity Simmers, Ashley Held, Esme Brigham, Makena Burke and more.
